Catalog description

This laboratory course focuses on testing of materials to determine their physical and mechanical properties. Students will verify physical testing through computer analysis using appropriate computer application and prepare reports from data secured from such tests and analysis. Typically offered Fall Spring. Prerequisite(s): MET 21101 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- (MAY BE TAKEN CONCURRENTLY) Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of Strength of Materials. 2. Apply previous analytical skills from mathematics and MET prerequisite courses to new areas of application. Therefore, demonstrate proficiency in performing strength of materials experimentation. 3. Show understanding of “Stress and Strain Transformation.” 4. Demonstrate proficiency in determination of Combined Stresses and beam deflection 5. Conduct experiments involving equipment compliant with industry standards and perform calculations on experimental results to assist in analyzing data. 6. Draw conclusions concerning material behavior under various testing and/or loading conditions and prepare lab reports using a structured approach. View Class Schedule
