This course covers advanced instruction set for programmable logic controllers (PLC) that includes: motion control, cam motion, product tracking, and other instructions necessary for packaging machinery applications. Other topics studied include: animations of packaging machinery systems using PLC emulators; advanced human-machine interface (HMI) layout design, configuration and interfacing HMI units with motion control PLCs: common industrial protocol (CIP) driven servomotor drives and their interface with motion control PLC; intelligent relays, PLC Input/output through CIP. Typically offered Spring. Prerequisite(s): ECET 26200 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes After Completing the Course Successfully a Student will be do the Following: 1. Proficient in advanced tag based PLC architecture 2. Able to write PLC ladder logic program for practical projects that involves high speed motion control, tracking, and switching 3. Able to program CIP based input module, output module and servo drives 4. Understand and able to program PLC for cam, product tracking, and other advanced operation for packaging machines 5. Proficient to do efficient design of multilayer HMI layouts 6. Able to design HMI based animation for packaging machine operations 7. Able to develop PLC ladder logic and HMI layout design under virtual environment View Class Schedule
