Catalog description
This course will introduce students to resources, such as the facilities and functionalities offered by the university, and skills that will help them be successful in their careers. Students will be shown the mathematical representations for basic electrical components, digital logic and mechanical components. Computer software and test equipment will then be used to demonstrate behaviors of electrical and mechanical components as well as show the potential applications of these components. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate critical thinking in utilizing campus resources, facilities, or staff for self-learning & success. 2. Make use of dimensional analysis and the chained factor label method in engineering problem solving. 3. Demonstrate the use of fundamental concepts of electricity in making current flow and stop flowing. 4. Use the relationships among Current, Voltage, and Resistance in electrical problem solving. 5. Examine relationships among Power, Energy, Temperature, & Heat, with software tools and hardware. 6. Develop practical knowledge in solving Mechatronics problems by using graphical simulation tools. 7. Apply digital logic principles using computer software tools to real life problems. 8. Utilize risk assessment to create safety measures to avoid hazards from electrical, mechanical, and rotational equipment. View Class Schedule
