This course provides the advanced topics in computer networks and communications, which will cover information theory, signal and noise analysis, advanced encoding schemes, modulation, multiplexing, wireless spectrum characteristics including various wireless networks, routing algorithm and protocol, transport layer protocols, client and server protocols, network security and performance. Permission of department required. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate and analyze the network modeling and signaling. 2. Evaluate the advanced technologies in digital and analog transmission. 3. Explain and compare the Switching concept and structures. 4. Compare and apply error detection, access control, etc. 5. Analyze and evaluate various networks such as Ethernet, Wireless LANs, Cellular networks, VLANs. 6. Analyze, evaluate, and implement the advanced protocols in network, transport, and applications layers. 7. Illustrate and determine the network and Internet security. 8. Analyze and evaluate network performance. 9. Explore, absorb, and retain the knowledge concerning leading-edge research in computer networks and data communications. View Class Schedule
