This course covers the CompTIA security+ certification topics including cybersecurity principles, cryptography basics and PKI, threats, attacks, and vulnerabilities, access control and identify management, network security, application, software and data security, mobile security, operating, cloud, and virtualization security, risk management, incident responses and disaster recovery, forensics investigation. Prerequisite(s): ITS 13500 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C AND ITS 17000 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C Course Learning Outcomes 1. Define, explain, and analyze the relationship between threats, vulnerabilities, attacks, countermeasures, compromises, disaster recovery, remediation, and control. 2. Apply the knowledge and skills to explain with real-world examples on how IT system components (e.g., servers, routers, people, software) can be compromised, analyze and evaluate system vulnerabilities and threats, design and apply the countermeasures to protect the cyber infrastructures. 3. Understand cybersecurity principles, basic cryptography, authentications, authorization, and access control. 4. Explain and give examples of why security and assurance must be “built in” to design and architecture from the beginning to be most effective. 5. Outline the system life cycle and its relationship to security. 6. Be proficient with ethical hacking (penetration test) process, tools, and techniques. 7. Understand the fundamentals of network security and wireless security and analyze the security of the cyber infrastructure in networked and wireless environment. 8. Understand basics of software security and malware. 9. Understand digital copyright management, life cycle security, supply chain security, and platform (e.g., operating systems, cloud) security.
