Students will learn consistent and universal guidelines that enable first responder rescuers to respond to and provide appropriate care, regardless of the type of emergency. Classroom and practice sessions introduce acute injury care environment, as well as traumatic emergency triage, and the primary principles of first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and emergency action plan creation and application. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Identify risk and learn the common factors that may cause injury by identifying potential hazards. 2. Use preventive measures to secure safe environment and minimize accident chances while delivering aids. 3. Prevent injuries and illnesses from escalating by attending to victims and prevent spread of infection. 4. Promote recovery by employing a first aid kit to assist a person in need. 5. Promote community safety and awareness by sharing information and lowering the impact of injuries in the community. 6. Help someone who is choking. 7. Administer CPR safely, manually and using an automated external defibrillator (AED). 8. Acquire CPR and first aid certifications from the American Heart Association. View Class Schedule
