This graduate-level seminar covers public history, archival theories, and professional issues for students entering the public history field. The course is project-based and pairs students with local historical organizations to build professional skills in research and management, historical interpretation, and public outreach. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate conceptual and definitional understandings of public history and archives. 2. Connect public history and archival theory to real-world practice. 3. Develop an awareness of professional ethics and legal requirements in the public history and archival fields. 4. Evaluate public history and archival exhibits and presentations, communication methods, and public access. 5.
