Catalog description

An advanced study of the young child in the classroom. Course will include an in-depth case study of an individual child with a focus on observing and documenting children’s work. Developmental assessment instruments and basic measurement theory will be discussed as it relates to teachers’ observational information. Typically offered Spring. Course Learning Outcomes 1. To understand the value of observational assessment to supporting children’s development. 2. To develop observation and documentation skills with appropriate techniques and tools. 3.
