Internship In HDFS Settings

Catalog description

A guided practical experience for students placed at various sites that focus on helping families and have been approved by the HDFS Faculty. Under the guidance of the setting professional and university supervisor, the student will be given the opportunity to integrate knowledge into practice by completing various professional duties to aid individuals and families. Students will also attend a seminar to learn about different agencies and from their peers. Topics in seminar include ethics, confidentiality, diversity, and specific issues that come from each individual student’s experiences. Prerequisite(s): HDFS 20500 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- AND SOC 26100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Experiential Learning (EXL): Yes Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate personal qualities, which are essential to job success. 2. Complete objectives that were created by the student and the on-site supervisor and approved by the PNW Instructor. 3. Integrate knowledge and experience gained from undergraduate studies into the field placement setting. 4. Gain knowledge on how a professional setting assists individuals. 5. Be aware of and be sensitive to issues of cultural diversity and ethics. 6. Submit all assignments to all people in a professional manner and on time. View Class Schedule
