Curriculum In Early Childhood

Catalog description

A course that focuses on curriculum planning and teaching methods in a variety of content area, including the arts, language/literacy, math, science and social studies. Students will plan, create, and present developmentally appropriate learning activities to facilitate development of the whole child and engage in reflection on teaching. Students will learn various methods while considering the environment as well as children’s diverse backgrounds and needs. Prerequisite(s): HDFS 10100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- AND HDFS 21000 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- AND HDFS 21600 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Explain various content areas and importance of these areas connecting to children’s development. 2. Demonstrate knowledge of the course of children’s language and literacy development, including second language development. 3. Explore arts, language and literacy as powerful tools for expression and communication and culture, through various medium and activities. 4. Plan, implement, and reflect a lesson of various content areas and use appropriate teaching techniques considering children’s various sociocultural backgrounds. View Class Schedule
