Catalog description

Basic foundations in exercise physiology for understanding sports performance in college and professional athletes. Methods and techniques for normal/abnormal responses and adaptation to sports exercise is studied. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Prerequisite(s): SCI 10500 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Define and describe five instances of the relationship between exercise physiology and athletic performance in laboratory testing settings, thus acquiring an appreciation for the importance of exercise physiology as it relates to athletic performance. 2. Integrate the biological and physiological processes that take place in collegiate and professional athletes by tracking four athletes through performance attainment tests throughout the semester. 3. Use this foundation course and build upon it throughout their major in Sports Management and this will result in building foundation for their own career pathways for their post-graduation employment, which shall be measured through a post-graduation survey with their employer indicting successful performance.
