This course provides an introduction to the history of criminalistics and the scientific techniques applied to forensic investigations. Some focus areas include crime scene and physical evidence handling. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. General Education: Natural Sciences Course Learning Outcomes 1. Learn the historical roots of modern forensic science and understand the influences that have shaped its development. 2. Understand how science has impacted significant criminal investigations. 3. Understand the responsibilities and practice of science in the legal system. 4. Learn the capabilities of the major disciplines in forensic science. 5. Learn the Frye and Daubert requirements for admissibility of scientific evidence. 6.
