This course employs anti-racist, transnational feminist perspectives to examine the cultural and social politics of gender, sexualities, race and ethnicity, class and/or caste, and religion in the literature and film (Anglophone and in translation) of the Middle East and South and West Asia. The dynamics and consequences of colonialism, neo-imperialism, and decolonization are central to the course. May be taught online, on ground or as a hybrid course. Introduce students to transnational feminist and critical race theories and methods of analysis. 2. Foster students’ skills in intersectional perspectives and analysis vis a vis international film and literature. 3.
