Catalog description

This course focuses on skills and strategies for effective academic reading. Students at this level are expected to read extensively, both inside and outside the classroom, in order to improve and refine their reading skills. Students practice a number of reading strategies for reading faster, understanding vocabulary in context and will practice using strategic reading skills. Discussion and small group work follow reading selections to help develop critical reading and thinking skills. The increase in contact hours will provide the time needed for effective instruction.
