Use of counseling techniques in a supervised laboratory; application of theories and techniques within varying employment settings. Concurrent Prerequisite: EDPS 60000. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Identify counselor behaviors and characteristics that influence the helping process, including age, gender, ethnic differences, verbal and nonverbal behaviors, and personal characteristics, orientations, and skills. 2. Demonstrate essential interviewing and counseling skills, establishing appropriate counseling goals, designing intervention strategies, evaluating client outcomes, and successfully terminating the counselor-client relationship.
