Examination of major counseling theories and counseling techniques, professional and ethical issues. Permission of instructor required. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Utilize theoretical approaches to individual personality, behavior, decision, and life difficulties in clinical settings with clients. 2. Develop and write case conceptualization through active application. 3. Ascertain how counseling theory informs counseling techniques. 4. Theoretically conceptualize client presentations based on the context of diversity-related strengths and limitations of counseling theory (i.e. age, ethnicity, disabilities, language, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, and SES).
