Counseling strategies for multicultural and diverse populations encountered by helping professionals. Among the populations considered are ethnic and cultural minorities, older persons, the gifted, and the disabled. Typically offered Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Examine how social and cultural factors influence the counseling relationship and are reflected in counseling theory and practice. 2. Develop strategies for working with diverse individuals, couples, families, groups, and communities. 3. Develop an awareness of multicultural and pluralistic trends, including characteristics and concerns of specific socially and culturally diverse groups. 4.
