Theoretical and experiential overview of fundamental elements of group work and group counseling processes. Broad topics include purposes and types of groups, therapeutic factors and stages of leadership skills, and multicultural, ethical, and legal aspects of group counseling. Typically offered Fall Spring. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Differentiate among various types and purposes groups and specializations in group work. 2. Identify the essential group dynamics involved in understanding group interactions. 3. Develop an understanding of the principles and challenges associated with planning a group intervention. 4. Develop an understanding of the principles and challenges associated with implementing a group intervention such as recruitment, therapeutic factors, and developmental stages of group. 5. Compare and contrast different perspectives on group leadership. 6. Examine and discuss the ethical considerations unique to group work. 7. Acquire knowledge regarding diversity-competent group practice. 8. Evaluate empirical findings associated with group work. 9.
