Teaching Students With Diverse Learning Needs In K-12 Class

EDPS 37000 builds on basic concepts presented in EDPS 26000. The course develops a knowledge base and practical strategies that will enable teachers to help every student succeed-including students with disabilities, those with diverse cultural backgrounds, students with limited English proficiency, students who are considered at risk” for academic failure and those who are gifted and talented. Topics include planning and grouping strategies classroom management collaboration skills curriculum adaptations teaching strategies and supported inclusive education. Field experiences are integrated with classroom instruction. Typically offered Spring. Prerequisite(s): EDPS 22000 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C AND EDPS 26000 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. Identify individual differences among learners who are diverse. 3. Learn effective, evidence-based teaching strategies. 4. Support students who are gifted. 8. Learn differentiated instruction, instructional accommodations, and adaptations. 9. Develop behavior management principles and strategies. 10.
