An introduction to the principles of designing instructional materials, assessments, and educational multimedia principles. Topics include learning objectives, student characteristics, needs assessment, media selection, and systematic evaluation. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Describe and apply the components of a systematic design process, their rationales, and their uses. 2. Use a systematic design process and instructional psychology principles to conduct a learning context analysis, a learner analysis, and a learning task analysis; to design and develop assessments; and to design formative and summative evaluations of the instruction itself.
