Educational Applications Of Multimedia

Catalog description

This course examines educational applications of multimedia. Fundamentals in the design, development, and evaluation of multimedia enriched resources in a variety of settings will be addressed. Human centered design and UX principles and methods will be explored and utilized through the development of multiple types of digital media. Research and theoretical approaches supporting the use of multimedia in teaching and learning activities will be examined. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Discuss Human Centered Design concepts and compare and contrast with traditional instructional design. 2. Develop empathy with target users utilizing user research methods and the development of personas. 3. Explain and apply multimedia and interface design principles within a given educational multimedia learning environment. 4. Explain and apply concepts related to accessibility and universal designs for learning. 5. Explain and apply usability testing. 6. Develop multimedia enriched resources utilizing various software and tools. 7. Discuss the history of multimedia research and design and underlying assumptions from relevant theorists, and the applicability of their discussion to today’s world. View Class Schedule
