Data Analytics for Public Policy

Catalog description

The goal of this course is to develop the key data analytics skill sets necessary to analyze socio-economic problems for public policy formulation and evaluation. It is designed for students who are seeking a strong foundation in data analytics for policy decisions in business and government. Typically offered Fall, Spring Course Learning Outcomes Students should be able to: 1. Identify the different data quality frameworks appropriate to evaluate specific public policy problems. 2. Formulate and evaluate research questions in a machine learning framework from transformation of raw data to data feeding into the quantitative model. 3. Understand and apply the analytical tools to build, evaluate, compare, select and interpret models. 4. Recognize normative issues that arise when applying analytics to public policy problems. 5.
