Catalog description

A study of application of power electronic circuits that enable efficient electric power conversion in industrial power production systems such as motor drives, electric vehicles, wind turbines, and photovoltaic. The concepts are then applied to develop controllers for dc-to-dc converters and dc-to-ac inverters, using industry standard practices and equipment. Closed loop controls of dc-to-dc converters are implemented. Prerequisite(s): ECET 15401 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- AND ECET 21201 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- AND ECET 38400 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Identify the basic components of power electronic circuits. 2. Analyze uncontrolled rectifier circuits. 3. Understand power transfer and power consumption of controlled rectifiers. 4. Understand controlled power converters. 5. Understand Motor controller. 6. Perform phasor diagram techniques.
