Catalog description

This course will cover concepts and formulations associated with renewable energy systems. Students will gain knowledge on designing and modeling of hybrid renewable energy systems. The main topics will include wind turbines and wind energy systems, photovoltaic (PV) panels and solar energy systems, renewable distributed generation (DG) systems, renewable systems integration, and hybrid renewable energy systems. Prerequisite(s): ECE 31100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF D- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Formulate and solve systems equipped with wind turbine distributed generation (WTDG) and photovoltaic DG (PVDG) units. 2. Analyze the effectiveness of renewable energy resources and distinguish them with the concepts related to coal-fired and natural gas power plants. 3. Design a realistic hybrid power system containing wind and solar generation units using the ETAP software. 4. Present and discuss their designed system and compare it with the systems designed by other groups. View Class Schedule
