The approximation of common non-linearities by describing functions and the analysis of resultant system behavior. Review of matrix analysis. Statespace formulation, representation, solution and design. Introduction to optimization and computational methods. Acceptable for credit in the Interdisciplinary Graduate Program in Engineering. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Prerequisite(s): ECE 38200 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF B- OR ME 48500 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF B- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Explain and apply a broad range of topics include modeling, controllability, observability, stability, full state feedback, reduced order feedback, pole placement. 2. Understand principles, concepts, methods, and techniques of digital control systems: topics include modeling, transfer function, block diagram reduction, stability, steady state errors, response and control.
