Catalog description

This course builds AI literacy and ethical awareness through hands-on exploration of AI tools used across domains. Students examine the capabilities, limitations, and social implications of generative AI, large language models, and machine-learning applications while learning to use these systems responsibly and effectively in academic and professional contexts. No prerequisite is needed as students will use AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini and ChatGPT to work on assignments and tasks. Through guided activities, case studies, reflection prompts, and collaborative projects, students evaluate AI capabilities and limitations, understand how these systems work at a conceptual level, and practice using them responsibly in academic and professional contexts. General Education: Technology Course Learning Outcomes 1. Understand AI Basics and Everyday Uses: Explain core concepts (machine learning, LLMs, generative AI, bias) and how common systems like chatbots or recommendation engines work. 2. Use Generative AI Creatively, Effectively and Responsibly: Apply text, image, audio, and video tools for creativity and problem-solving, using prompt-engineering while maintaining independent judgment. 3. Evaluate AI Systems and Their Impacts: Assess strengths, limitations, ethical issues (privacy, bias, misinformation), and social implications in your field. 4.
