Catalog description

An introduction to fundamental concepts and basic research related to communicative behavior in the classroom. The primary focus is on the study and application of principles of effective classroom communication through personal inquiry. Among topics discussed are components of classroom communication, systematic observation as a method of studying classroom communication, and applications of systematic observation in a variety of classroom communication settings. Department permission required. Typically offered Fall. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the nature of communication pedagogy. 2. Identify and discuss multiple moral and civic values for higher education. 3. Develop a specific lesson plan for a COM 11400 unit. 4. Deliver an effective lecture. 5.
