Course will introduce students to the management of social media for business. Students will incorporate practices learned in COM 25300, including the four-step process, systems theory and the ethics of a professional public relations practitioner, to manage the social media accounts of a local business and create new campaigns. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Launch a social media campus campaign for a business. 2. Identify the social platforms needed for the specific interests of a business using the four-step process. 3. Create relevant content across active social platforms in relation to information gathered through proper research. 4. Incorporate the ethical standards used by public relations professionals into all content created for social media. 5. Adapt and adjust to user feedback on social channels through an understanding of specific social platform’s analytics. 6. Explain and practice the dynamics of an on-line and/or digital engagement with the public. 7. Explain the return of investment of social media by measuring user engagement and message reach. 8.
