Small Group Communication

Catalog description

A study of group thinking and problem-solving methods; participation in, and evaluation of, committee, and informal discussion groups. Focus on the roles, networks, and messages employed by small group communicators. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Gain knowledge of the key elements and processes of small group communication. 2. Understand the impact of your own and others’ communication behaviors in small group settings. 3. Demonstrate your ability to analyze interpersonal transactions and interactions within small groups. 4. Understand the complexities involved in interacting in a variety of small groups. 5. Function effectively as a member of a group. 6. Increase your critical thinking, analytical, and interpersonal skills for communicating effectively in small group settings (including the ability to deal with interpersonal and role conflicts, stress, and politics). 7.
