Introduction to the development and application of historical, critical, and empirical research methods pertinent to communication problems. Fundamental concepts of problem identification, sampling, surveys, historical sources, critical models, reliability and validity of both measurement and research design in communication research. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Compare and contrast some of the methods used in communication scholarship. 2. Use the concepts and vocabulary of those methods. 3. Use the library and computer-based resources to find relevant communication research. 4. Develop and present arguments grounded in scholarship-based knowledge. 5.
