Catalog description

A study of the planning and control of construction projects. Time schedules for materials, labor and equipment ,expediting material delivery, bar charts, Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling. Precedence diagrams and Program Evaluation Review Techniques (PERT). The course emphasizes the use of computers for scheduling and updating of the construction process. Typically offered Fall. Prerequisite(s): CMET 34100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- OR CEMT 34101 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- OR CMET 34101 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Understand planning, scheduling, and control theory and principles. 2. Calculate the critical path of a project and the total/free floats of the tasks given the duration and immediately preceding activities of each task. 3. Create a Project Schedule based on the project drawing and project manual. 4. Understand time, cost, and resource management principles. 5. Use standard scheduling software MS Project.
