Catalog description

An overview of concrete construction, including material composition, behavior and handling of concrete, formwork, and concrete reinforcement.Typically offered Fall. Prerequisite(s): CMET 26001 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- OR CEMT 26001 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- OR CET 26000 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Analyze and design reinforced concrete beams with respect to shear and flexure including dimensions and reinforcement. 2. Include bond anchorage, development length, and serviceability and deflection criteria in beam design. 3. Understand and implement principles of integrated beam design. 4. Analyze and design short and slender columns, under different loading conditions. 5. Ensure designs are in compliance with various guidelines and provisions of ACI 3 18. 6.
