A study of methods to estimate quantites of materials required in construction. Practice in making quantity surveys. Estimating total job costs (material and labor, quality survey, overhead, subcontracts) and bidding practices of the construction industry. Topics in construction law and ethics. Typically offered Spring. Prerequisite(s): CMET 34101 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- OR CEMT 34101 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- OR CMET 34100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the use of drawings, specifications and the project manual in determining material quantities to execute the construction work. 2. Demonstrate an ability to assign the developed quantities and tasks appropriately among various trades, subcontractors and specialty contractors. 3. Demonstrate an ability to assign productivity rates to develop manpower and equipment requirements to execute the work per the specifications, drawings and project manual. 4. Demonstrate an ability to develop unit manpower and construction assembly costs through the use of in-house formula and national databases. 5. Assemble coherent bid forms and that include material, labor, equipment and general condition costs. 6. Develop clear and concise proposals in a timely and ethical manner, including cover letter, pricing breakdowns, exclusions, alternates and special conditions. View Class Schedule
