Basic principles of highway construction, including materials, methods, interpreting of plans and specifications, earthmoving, drainage, paving, bridges, and retaining walls. Typically offered Spring. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic elements involved in highways. 2. Demonstrate an understanding of geometric design of highways (level of service, sight distance, curve radii, etc.) and structural design. 3. Interpret typical highway plans and specifications. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of the different types of pavement materials. 5. Show an understanding of typical highway construction methods and equipment. View Class Schedule
