Properties of gases, liquids, and solids; equations of state; thermodynamics; energy, heat, and work; entropy; spontaneity and equilibrium; chemical potential; chemical equilibrium; phase diagrams; colligative properties. Typically offered Fall. Prerequisite(s): CHM 26605 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- AND PHYS 25100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- AND MA 26100 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- (MAY BE TAKEN CONCURRENTLY) Course Learning Outcomes 1. Understand universal physical laws as they apply to chemistry. 2. Use theory to understand/predict experimental observations. 3. Demonstrate an understanding of the physical properties and a molecular understanding of chemical reactivity and materials. 4. Develop problem-solving skills: identifying the objective. 5.
