Laboratory experiments to accompany CHM 25500, illustrating methods of separation, instrumental methods of analysis, and the more common techniques and methods for preparing various types of organic compounds. Typically offered Fall Spring. Prerequisite(s): CHM 25500 FOR LEVEL UG WITH MIN. GRADE OF C- (MAY BE TAKEN CONCURRENTLY) Course Learning Outcomes 1. Learn through practical experience the isolation, purification, and characterization of organic compounds through processes including liquid-liquid extraction, evaporation, solid-phase chromatography, distillation and infrared spectroscopy. 2. Learn through practical experience the use of simple methods to carry out reactions discussed in organic chemistry lectures and how to isolate and characterize the products. View Class Schedule
