Catalog description

Examination of the literature, research, and theories related to therapeutic interventions for sexual concerns in relationships. Particular attention is given to systemic approaches and to the relationship between marital and sex therapy. Prerequisite: CDFS 67000. Permission of instructor required. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Describe and employ systemic theories of sex therapy including the use of contemporary assessment methods, treatment planning, and research informed interventions. 2. Describe the strengths and weaknesses of sex therapy using research evidence. 3. Demonstrate and apply knowledge of diversity, social location (gender, race/ethnicity, sexual orientation, SES, political beliefs, religion, ability, etc.), power, oppression, and dominant discourse on sexuality and sex therapy practice.
