Catalog description
In this course graduate students will critically examine theories and research on the manifestations of trauma on the individual and the family. Systemic and relational influences on recovery from trauma will be highlighted. Family therapy interventions for trauma treatment will be presented. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Understand family therapy theories, research, and interventions associated with trauma. 2. Understand family therapy assessment, interventions and models of trauma. 3. Increase knowledge of cognitive, affective, behavioral, and neurological sequelae associated with trauma. 4. Develop skills and techniques in working with trauma with individuals and families. 5. Recognize contextual and systemic dynamics, and their impact on how the traumatic event affects the family unit. View Class Schedule
