Catalog description

This course introduces the graduate student to the professional clinical skills and techniques utilized when working with children and adolescents in the context of family therapy. Graduate Student standing required. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Understand developmental and systemic family issues that affect children. 2. Increase knowledge and develop professional skills required to successfully engage and treat young children, adolescents, and adults, and how to simultaneously engage both parents and children in therapy. 3. Introduce the major family therapy approaches and explore perspectives on how to integrate playful approaches in family therapy sessions. 4. Engage actively in and personally apply experiential learning activities that can be used in therapy with children, adolescents and families. 5. Examine cultural issues that influence children, parents, and the therapy relationship. View Class Schedule
