Catalog description

Students will learn about psychopathology, behavior disorders and diagnostic assessment; the course will include a relational focus on these topics. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate knowledge of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders and the International Classification of Diseases listing and be able to apply diagnostic principles to make accurate, ethical diagnoses within the scope of practice for systemic therapy. 2. Assess and evaluate psychopathology, behavior, and mood disorders within the scope of ethical practice for the field of systemic therapy. 3. Conceptualize psychopathology, behavior, and mood disorders within a relational and ethical framework for systemic treatment, accounting for the role of culture, power, and privilege in assessing and providing effective treatment.
