Advanced Hydraulics
Purdue University Northwest · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
Course focuses on applied concepts in Pipe distribution networks (with real world examples), network analysis, transients, Surge analysis, and open channel hydraulics – floods, channel design, sanitary sewer and storm sewer design and analysis using SWMM – water security. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Extend the storm sewer and sanitary sewer design concepts to develop field storm sewer system design and cross every the system performance using EPA SWMM model. 2. Apply governing equations for a fluid flow through pipe network systems, pipe network analysis, problem formulation. 3. Solve those equations by linear algebra and Newton’s methods. 4. Perform Pipe network analysis using relevant industry software. 5. Perform transient analysis. 6. Understand emerging issues and open channel design concepts. View Class Schedule
