Readings and discussion in the structural, cellular, and genetic basis of the immune response. Biology 420 recommended as a pre-requisite. Typically offered Spring. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Name and describe the role of principal organs, cells, and molecules of the immune system. Including but not limited to cells of the innate and adaptive immune system, cytokines and chemokines, and organs and tissues such as the thymus, bone marrow and spleen. 2. Describe and explain major processes of immunity. Including but not limited to responses to infection, allergens, and regulatory controls of the immune system. 3. Predict and outline the consequences of a deficiency in one particular component of the immune system. 4. Outline and explain how abnormal immune function can cause disease. View Class Schedule
