Catalog description

An introduction to the materials and techniques of painting, emphasizing a professional approach to content and expression. Typically offered Fall Spring Summer. Course Learning Outcomes 1. Demonstrate competent use of painting tools and materials. 2. Execute basic techniques and processes of paint application. 3. Demonstrate ability to construct an archival conscious painting support. 4. Build on rendering skills through emphasis on working from direct observation and demonstrate abstract perceptual abilities. 5. Demonstrate a beginning execution of color theory through projects and color terminology in written or oral form. 6. Demonstrate formal design concepts and use the principles and elements of design. 7. Discuss and evaluate art and ideas using appropriate terminology verbally and in written form.
