Advocacy for Families and Youth

Catalog description

Human service professionals are often called upon to advocate for at-risk children and families. Advocates must know how to help others who, for one reason or another, cannot help themselves. In this course, you will analyze the influence of biological, social, economic, and cultural forces impacting children and families. As a human service professional, you will be introduced to the roles and skills necessary to intervene on behalf of this population. You will also design ethical interventions that will aid at-risk children and families at the micro, meso, and macro levels.
