Catalog description

This course provides an overview of literacy instruction by examining the cultural and social functions of literacy as a global citizen through theoretical awareness and applied knowledge. The course covers historical trends in literacy, definitions, and instructional approaches as it explores the use of varied literacy pedagogies including didactic, functional, authentic, and critical. It will further investigate best practices in literacy instruction with an emphasis on digital skills and media literacy.
