In this course, you will examine the origin, distribution, characteristics, and management of the Earth's major natural resources, including freshwater, soils and agricultural land, forests, fisheries and marine resources, wildlife and biodiversity, mineral resources, energy resources, and atmospheric resources. You will explore how fundamental principles of ecology and earth science provide the scientific basis for understanding natural resource availability, regeneration, and depletion. You will analyze how physical and biological processes influence resource quality, productivity, and sustainability across different environmental systems. You will learn from scientific concepts and applied examples how natural resource systems function and how their management affects environmental conditions.
