P: SOC 16101, and sophomore or higher class standing. This course is designed to examine crime as a sociological phenomenon by attending to the various social structures and forces that underlie criminal behavior. This course provides you with a working knowledge of the causes and patterns of criminal behavior, as well as patterns of victimization. Students will learn to think critically about what these theories assume and what practical implications they suggest.
