Catalog description

P: MUSC 18203 with grade of C- or better, and admitted into a program of the School of Music. This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of music publishing and its role in the music industry. Students will learn how copyright, licensing, royalties, and publishing agreements function to generate and protect income for songwriters, composers, and rights holders. Through case studies, practical exercises, and industry analysis, students will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate publishing deals, manage intellectual property, and apply best practices in administering, exploiting, and monetizing musical works in a global marketplace.
