Ocular Surgery and Aseptic Techniques

Catalog description

This course will provide students with basic concepts regarding surgical assistance in minor and major ocular surgeries in operating rooms and the ophthalmic clinics. The course also covers the study of the surgical procedures according to each part of the eye. Students are expected to apply the basic principles of asepsis, sterile techniques, and universal precautions. Another objective of the course is for students to identify and manage the ocular surgical equipment and microsurgical instruments, as well as how to handle the patient in the pre-and post­operative period.
