Evidence Based Practice in Occupational Therapy II

Pre-requisite: TEOC 6401 This is the second of a three-course sequence, designed to guide the student in the development of skills to make clinical intervention decisions guided by scientific findings and in the development of a scholarly research proposal. Emphasis is given to th e appraisal of qualitative evidence, professional literature search and critical interpretation and analysis of scientific findings to support clinical intervention in occupational therapy. Evidence and data provided by qualitative research is also analyzed. Students will complete a mentor guided scholarly research proposal to advance knowledge that can be translated to an improved professional practice. Additionally, concepts of validity and reliability are discussed, and students get the skills to evaluate the psychometric properties of evaluation tools commonly used in occupational therapy. The course also provides laboratory experiences.
